Part 1 1) What meanings are the audience encouraged to take about the two main characters from the opening of the film? At the opening of the film, the audience is encouraged to take a negative stand about the two characters, this is shown through their actions in the start by one disturbing the old man by causing a ruckus, this is more elaborated through the main character showing an action of taking a weapon, or more commonly a gun and using it. Tarun carefully uses these two characters who are dressed in the modern day casual wear as people who are misjudged as their actions later dont reflect the prejudices society gives. 2) How does the end of the film emphasise de Saussure’s belief that signs are polysemic – open to interpretation or more than one meaning?
